Worms W.M.D Launching On Nintendo Switch In Late 2017

Team17 announced that Worms W.M.D is set to arrive on the Nintendo Switch later this year, presumably during the holiday season. The publisher/developer released a new trailer for the game appearing on the Switch, showcasing some of the gameplay running on Nintendo’s hybrid portable-home console.

Team17 states that gamers asked for Worms on the Switch, so they’re delivering. The trailer starts by first teasing some more gender wars – something that seems to be the norm in media these days – but the worms reveal that they’re on the same team by whipping out two Joy-Con controllers. This leads into the actual gameplay, where they reveal that you can do two-player local play on the Switch version of Worms W.M.D. You can check out the minute-long trailer below.

The port to the Switch also includes a brand new space themed map, along with some new customization features for the worms.

The Liberation and Forts game modes will also be present, along with the wide variety of different weapons that have been present throughout the series.

Unfortunately they don’t have a solid date ironed out for the release of the game, and they mentioned that they didn’t want to announce something and then have to delay it and disappoint the fans. So for now, it’s set within a tentative late 2017 release window.

You do, however, get to see what the game looks and plays like in real-time via a recent live-stream from Team17 that was uploaded to YouTube recently. You can check it out below.

As mentioned, the game will feature local play, online play and single-player modes as well. Worms W.M.D is available on PS4, Xbox One and PC at the moment, and you can look for the Switch version to drop later this year.
