Brawlhalla, Platform-Fighter Launches On PS4 October 17th

Blue Mammoth Games announced that Brawlhalla, their platform fighting game that seems to be a cross between Brutal: Paws of Fury and Super Smash Bros, will officially launch on PS4 starting October 17th next week.

The game is also scheduled to graduate from Early Access on PC on the 17th as well, and it coincides with the release of a brand new corsair.

According to creative director Matt Woomer, the launch of the PS4 version coincides with the e-sports World Championship Expo, mentioning in the press release…

“The Brawlhalla community has grown bigger than ever on PC and now we’re ready to welcome PlayStation 4 players into the fold,”

“It’s the perfect time to become a Brawlhalla player. Our newest Legend allows for an entirely new playstyle, the Brawlhalla World Championship Expo is soon, and we will soon enable cross-play, bringing all our fans together in grand competition.”

There’s a really cool animated video for the game featuring some of the characters that you can play, along with some Dragon Ball-inspired showdowns, which you can check out below.

The actual gameplay is very similar to Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros. Given how far and few between the Super Smash Bros., games release, some developers like Blue Mammoth Games have stepped in with titles like Brawlhalla.

During the free-to-play run in Early Access they managed more than 7 million players. While the game will be free-to-play on PS4 you will be able to purchase a Founder’s Pack for $19.99.

Blue Mammoth have been putting a lot of time and effort into building the game’s e-sports market as well, hoping to one day rival the likes of the small but dedicated Smash Bros., scene. We’ll see how well that goes down when the game arrives on the PS4.
