Dragon Quest XI Switch Version Will Be Developed In Unreal Engine 4

If you don’t know, Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age is already available over in Japan and happens to be playable on PS4 and Nintendo 3DS. While Western fans have to wait until 2018 to get their hands on the RPG, a Switch version is in development that will be running on a newer version of the Unreal Engine 4.

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age is reported to be doing quite well during its run of consumption, however if you happen to be a fan of the series and want in on the latest named console, there’s good news that Square is working with the Unreal Engine 4 to make it happen. The game is available to play right now over in Japan for PS4 and Nintendo’s 3DS series of handheld devices, but the Switch will be coming soon too.

According to publication site Gematsu we learn that this Switch version of said title will be developed in version 4.15 of the Unreal Engine, whereas before it was showing a build number of 4.13 for the PS4 version. This information comes from series creator Yuji Horii, who noted the above at Epic Games Japan’s Unreal Fest East 2017 at Pacifico Yokohama Conference Center.

The publication site also reported Horii confirming the Switch version is in fact in developed through said engine, which has no release date much like the Western version of Echoes of an Elusive Age. I should note that the likelihood of a 2018 Switch release will likely happen faster than a 2017 Japanese edition, but who knows how the grand scheme of things will play out?

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age has already launched in Japan on July 29th. A Western release is planned for 2018 and has no platforms announced yet. If none of the the above did not sate your interest, you can learn a bit more by hitting up esuteru.com.
