Focus Home Interactive and Deck 13 Interactive announced that The Surge’s first major expansion pack called A Walk In The Park is set to arrive for the PC, PS4 and Xbox One starting in December.
The new expansion takes players out of the CREO Corporation and toward a bright and sunny new location known as the CREO Amusement Park. The new location tests players wits and mettle as they fight against crazed mascots, new robots, and enhanced exoskeleton villains.
The amusement park is no walk in the park, though. It’s a dilapidated, dangerous, and horrific place to visit. As you see in the screenshot above, dead bodies from broken rides litter the streets, hulking new constructor bots block your path, and a variety of themed locations will offer up some new challenges to face.
On the upside you’ll have all new weapons to utilize and craft – 16 new weapons to be exact. There’s also new armor upgrades as well, which is partly demonstrated in the screenshot below.
Additionally, you will be able to acquire and access new implants to enhance your abilities. They don’t have a trailer for the expansion yet, but I’m sure it’s coming soon.
I’m not sure how well this will fit into the game’s story lore, though. It doesn’t exactly say if this is set before the events of the finale in the main game or after those events. The ending definitely seemed to make it clear that the lead character in the main story of The Surge was no longer going to be able to continue his adventures. So how is that going to work out for the expansion?
I’m sure Deck 13 will explain those details further leading up closer to the release of The Surge: A Walk In The Park when it arrives on home consoles and PC in early December.
