Avalanche Studios, Expansive Worlds and THQ Nordic announced that TheHunter: Call of the Wild is currently available right now for the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 for only $39.99.
The game puts players in the role of a hunter who must hunt down and kill a variety of animals within a 50 square mile sandbox terrain. Players will utilize their skills as a hunter to track down wildlife, stalk their prey and then eventually move in to execute the kill.
Players will be able to hunt bison, elk, deer, and even black bears. If you’re not an avid hunter and you’re having a difficult time unleashing your manly weapons onto unsuspecting animals, you can actually get some help from your buddies in the cooperative mode where you and a friend can hunt the forest animals together. I imagine it may be both easier and harder, only because one player could technically be used to scout and spot while the other preps for the kill. Alternatively, it could be harder because another player could also make noise or get spotted and ruin the hunt for their teammate.
But then there’s also another multiplayer mode included in the form of a competitive mode where players can race to see who can get the kill first. The multiplayer modes support up to eight players via online play.
Due to the size of the map players will also be able to utilize ATVs to drive around. There’s also a shooting range included to help hone your aiming skills. You can see what the gameplay is like with the launch trailer below.
These games have been around for a long while, and it amazes me that they’re still going strong. Even more so than that it amazes me that they’ve found their way onto the Xbox One and PS4.
The game has already been available on PC for quite some time — since early February to be exact — but if you were actually interested in the game on home consoles you can pick up a copy of theHunter: Call of the Wild for PS4 or Xbox One. You can learn more by hitting up the game’s official website.
