EA Wants Anthem To Be A Franchise Like Star Wars Battlefront

At a recent event that went down at UBS Global Technology Conference 2017, EA’s chief financial officer or CFO, Blake Jorgensen, noted that he wants to turn BioWare’s Anthem into an ongoing franchise like EA and DICE’s Star Wars Battlefront.

In case you have no idea what Anthem strives to be at this moment, the game is much like Activision and Bungie’s Destiny. The core of the game sees you playing as a Freelancer in an online multiplayer action role-playing setup, which centers around looting and discovering new enemies and locations.

Now that you have a basic idea on what Anthem aims to offer players, we learn from publication site GameRant that Blake Jorgensen, EA’s chief financial officer, at UBS Global Technology Conference 2017 had this to say about Anthem:

“We’ve been able to bring out some great new titles that have turned into franchises, like the Star Wars activity, like Battlefront, for example, that layer in more franchises over time.

“We’re trying to do that with BioWare’s Anthem game”.

In other words, Anthem will follow a similar formula as Destiny and Destiny 2, where the first Anthem  game will likely have a bunch of expansions and add-ons and then they’ll abandon it all and move on to a sequel.

Furthermore, this model links up with another thing that the publication site reported on in the past, regarding EA previously mentioning that they wanted Anthem to be a 10-year journey, much like Activision and Bungie’s Destiny series.

Whether you are looking forward to Anthem or not, the game set to run for a decade-long will not only have post-launch DLC and plenty of expansions to go along with it, but there are plans to have several games within the series.

Last but not least, Anthem is set to launch sometime next year during the fall of 2018 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
