Focus Home Interactive president, Cédric Lagarrigue, has taken up an interview with MCVUK to talk about Vampyr and delivering a complete game that is not split up by DLC. Additionally, Lagarrigue wants a single-player game where its content speaks loud enough to warrant a sequel.

Vampyr is a game about a WW1 veteran who comes back to London as a doctor during the Spanish Flu pandemic in 1918. He is torn between the Hippocratic Oath he had made and the new thirst for blood as a vampire, creating a dire life or death situation.

The single-player game offers choices and a city filled with people, which if too many die other civilians will notice and start investigating their disappearance.

Different skills opt for alternate play styles, but the main point behind the game questions the player if they will save lives and risk losing their own as a blood thirsty doctor or kill people to sate their blood lust and destroy London from the inside out?

If that sounds interesting, Focus Home Interactive president, Cédric Lagarrigue, wants to bring a complete story and single-player experience through Vampyr without DLC.

“This is a purely solo experience; we did not plan DLC. We would prefer, if the reception of the game justifies it, to think about a sequel. We and Dontnod already have some ideas, as there’s so many incredible things to offer in such a universe.”

The real question is, though, will there be microtransactions?

Anyway, Lagarrigue noted that Vampyr benefits from a solid budget, superior to most independent video games, however it’s not a triple-A blockbuster. We also learn that it will be considered a success when around a million copies are sold, but the game will only need half of that to be profitable.

Vampyr is set to release sometime in the early part of 2018, and will debut across PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
