Loophole Interactive announced that their new arena-based, 2D brawler, King of the Couch: Zoovival is set to launch in full on Steam starting November 21st. The game was just recently Kickstarted to the tune of 35,000 SEK.
The developers promised that they would have the game up and out by November 2017 and they seem to be sticking to their word.
The game is a side-scrolling, 2D brawler for up to four players to play against each other in a variety of arenas where you can attempt to avoid succumbing to arena hazards while you use grappling hooks to swing around and blast the crap out of your opponents.
You can see what gamers funded with the launch trailer below.
This is yet another one of those Super Smash Bros.-style clones that attempt to encroach on the space that Nintendo built since the N64.
To be honest, I don’t know if this game has what it takes to steal the thunder away from other Super Smash Bros. clones currently available on the market, such as Brawlout or Rivals of Aether, especially since the other two have been around just long enough to establish some small semblance of hype surrounding their presence on the market.
There are also other games like Icons: Combat Arena and Indie Pogo that have also come onto the scene that will surely give King of the Couch some stiff competition when they do finally release.
Anyway, you can look for King of the Couch: Zoovival to launch on Steam starting November 21st, featuring a bunch of different weapons, a bunch of playable animals, and a bunch of different arenas complete with hazards.
You can learn more about the game by hitting up the official website if you’re so inclined. Based on the footage it’s hard to see the game breaking trends and setting records, but for people who don’t mind Smash Bros.-style clones, another one will be available for you to play soon enough.
