Pocket Mana recently started up their Kickstarter campaign for their interactive space-themed role-playing game, My Uncle Merlin: A Tale of Wizards In Space. The Serbian developers are hoping to gather up $22,000 for their project and hopefully get the entire project funded before December 15th, 2017, which is when the Kickstarter crowdfunding drive comes to an end.
The game itself is about an unlikely hero in the form of Eddie, who lives with one of the greatest ranked wizards in the universe, Merlin. The duo travel across the galaxy in the “dragon-propelled” wizard’s tower.
Eddie is in dire straits to prove himself a man, and to move beyond the ranks of being a beta nu-male. In order to do so he has to undertake a journey with his uncle to save the universe from the dark and mysterious forces of evil.
You can check out the pitch video below to get an idea of what the story-oriented space-adventure game is like.
They explain in the pitch video that the game is about venturing about the known galaxy, gathering up items, increasing Eddie’s stats and either making friends or enemies along the way based on your decisions.
There are a couple of critical elements to the game that adds risk/reward factors to your play-style. For instance, you have to keep your dragon fed in order to keep the tower moving through space, so finding food for the dragon is a big factor in the gameplay, along with keeping your limited cargo space in mind as you invite people on or kick people off the tower.
I don’t know if this is a game that breaks outside of the niche it’s set within to really lure in a large enough audience to justify the crowdfunding goal, but that isn’t stopping Pocket Mana from attempting to reach gamers and potential investors, nonetheless.
As of the writing of this article the game has accrued 7% of its total goal and it still has a long ways to go, but they also have 25 days left on the Kickstarter to reach their goal. So we’ll see how that all plays out.
