During this year’s Game Awards in Los Angeles, California, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime dropped a bomb during the event, revealing that Nintendo and Platinum Games have teamed up together again and not only will the first two Bayonetta games receive a re-release on the Nintendo Switch, but a third game in the series is currently in development.
The announcement came with a teaser trailer, showcasing the eponymous heroine getting beat up throughout the trailer. She fires off some rounds but things just don’t go her way. Eventually we see some sort of divine power zap her while we have a shot from between her legs, which results in her disintegrating her and her guns falling to the ground. The trailer is a throwback to the original Bayonetta teaser from nearly a decade ago. You can check it out below.
We don’t get much in the way of… well, anything. However, it’s not like we would expect much from a teaser.
The game will inevitably be another third-person shooter with plenty of hacking and slashing to boot, but the teaser sets up a very interesting plot point in the form of Bayonetta… dying?
Whoever she’s facing off against doesn’t sweat her bullets, her killer looks, her legs to die for, or her insufferable personality.
While gamers wait for more details and info on Bayonetta 3, you can look to get your hands on Bayonetta 1 along with Bayonetta 2 in the early first half of 2018 for the Nintendo Switch. This means that if you want the whole trilogy and the complete story, you’re going to have to pony up some cash for the Nintendo Switch or miss out. It’s not a bad way to get the more hardcore players interested in Nintendo’s hybrid handheld game console, of course.
Don’t be surprised if an upcoming Nintendo Direct will drop some more details for the game… soon.
