Blossom Tales: The Sleeping King Arrives On Nintendo Switch December 21st, 2017

The console-exclusive Blossom Tales: The Sleeping King from FDG Entertainment is set to launch on the Nintendo Switch on December 21st, 2017 later into the month.

Players take on Lily, a knight of the Rose, as she attempts to save her Kingdom of Blossom from the encroaching darkness. This requires players to travel throughout the game world, defeating monsters, conquering bosses, and traveling through dungeons to acquire treasures. All in the name of the king!

The game utilizes old-school, 8-bit style visuals and chibi character designs that hearkens back to old-school titles like Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past and Crystalis.

You can check out the charming launch trailer below.

The game plays out very much like The Legend of Zelda on the SNES. The gameplay is faster, smoother, and supporting 60fps this time around. You can swing a sword and cut down baddies, throw bombs to access new passageways, and even face off against bosses across a variety of biome-themed dungeons.

Obviously the game doesn’t hold a candle to the open-air rendition of games like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, but it does offer gamers something smaller and more compact when they’re short on time but want a small dash of nostalgia to occupy their free moments when they’re in need of an interactive entertainment fix.

I don’t know if this will really grab a large audience when there are so many 8-bit style games currently out and available on the market. So many

The game features 15 hours of gameplay, HD rumble support for the Joy-Cons, and four themed dungeons to conquer.

You can look for Blossom Tales: The Sleeping King to go live on the Nintendo eShop starting December 21st, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
