Death Stranding is in development as we speak and is the works of Hideo Kojima and Kojima Productions. Powered by the Decima Engine, Death Stranding development is said to be the fastest thing that Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) has seen, and Kojima has a surprise announcement for gamers and fans alike when the year 2018 rolls around.
Thanks to publication site ryokutya2089.com we learn about a featured topic in the latest issue of Dengeki PlayStation that discovers a little bit more about game creators. This hot topic is called Creator Interviews, which shines a light on Hideo Kojima.
According to the publication site, Kojima said that…
“SIE told me they ‘never seen people working on a fast pace like this,’ so Death Stranding development is doing well. I plan to announce something in 2018 that’ll surprise everyone even more.”
If that news sates your soul and you missed out on other Death Stranding information, Kojima has stated multiple times that Death Stranding will try and venture beyond the conventional/traditional definition of “action” and “RPG” found in similar open-world titles. This was said around the time of the August 3rd revealing of Death Stranding: Height Fog video.
The above video comes in by MetalGearSolidBe. Death Stranding was also depicted in video form when The Game Awards 2017 went live early December, courtesy of MKIceAndFire.

If the surprise set for 2018 will be more baffling yet unique than the above videos, it’ll be interesting to see what Kojima and crew have in store for fans when the game finally comes out. Additionally, seeing that the water scene was not only playable but in real-time and in-engine, I’m sure the 2018 surprise will be actual gameplay footage.
While we wait for the surprise to be unveiled next year, we do know that development on the game is going rather well according to SIE. However Death Stranding has no official release date, but it’s currently in development for PS4.
