Dragon Ball FighterZ Opening Cinematic Rocks Out Just Like Dragon Ball Z

Ahead of the game’s launch on January 26th, 2018 next month, Bandai Namco released the official opening sequence for Dragon Ball FigherZ. It’s only a minute long but it’s chock full of action, Ki-blasts, fireballs, destructo-discs and fisticuffs.

More notably, the opening segment seems to draw a lot of inspiration and parallels to the original Dragon Ball Z intro. As noted by Shoryuken, you get a brief yet dynamic look at many of the game’s characters, from Android 21 to Goku, and from Krillin to Vegeta, and plenty of others in between. You can check it out below.

The guitar riffs kick things off with a quick profile of Goku battling Frieza, and then we get a series of shots showcasing Vegeta, Trunks, Gohan, Frieza and Piccolo.

Halfway through the intro we then get a look at the B-team fighters, including Krillin, Tien, and Yamcha.

Popular waifus like Android 18 and Android 21 are briefly put on display, along with underutilized characters like Android 16.

Nappa makes the cut, along with Captain Ginyu from the Ginyu Force, and Cell.

As the intro nears its finale, the death-metal vocals kick into play to help ramp up the intensity of the on-screen action.

The opening cinematic received plenty of 10/10s from gamers, and it’s not hard to notice the similarities to the English “Rock the Dragon” opening for Dragon Ball Z.

That was one of the few intros where it was worth watching every single week.

Anyway, you’ll be able to get a small taste of the action from Dragon Ball FighterZ for yourself during the open beta phase set to take place between January 14th and January 15th for everyone, with special early access granted to those who pre-ordered the game by being able to log in on January 13th. You can look for the full game to launch starting January 26th for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
