The Predator in the classic 1987 film was and still is an icon not to be messed with. The beast has found itself in various films and games, which now includes that of Ubisoft’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands. The third-person open world shooter is out now for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
The film in which the Predator was first viewed on the silver screen sees a crew with more backbone than the German K98 rifle, even though that rifle was said to be the backbone of the entire Wehrmacht army. However this macho crew composed of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Carl Weathers, Bill Dukes, Jesse Ventura and others, had a serious match to face: The Predator.
There’s no telling if the well known beast will stand to be the same threat as depicted in the original 1987 film, ripping and shredding Ghosts to bits and pieces when it appears in Ghost Recon: Wildlands, but I’m sure December 14th will spill the beans when it arrives.
“Will you become the hunter, or the hunted? The Predator takes no survivors. Face your toughest challenge to date and earn unique rewards. This free Ghost Recon Wildlands special event begins 12.14.”
Personally, it seems quite strange for Ubisoft to release this free update mission to Wildlands now, given how little noise fans make of this game. It would seem like the devs would have released this early on when its life cycle was making headlines more often, but I guess it is what it is.
Moreover, thanks to the trailer that uses a lot of catchphrases featured in the classic film, we see the Predator using its thermal tracker and cloaking device to prey on the clueless Ghosts. It also sports its lethal wrist blades and comes equipped with its shoulder-mounted plasma cannon. No mention of its Shurikens, Smart Discs or other gadgets have been made so far.
Anyway, the event will be for free, but the equipment that players can equip calls for some cash to be put down to use it. You can look out for this event to go live on December 14th or you can watch the new video trailer here.
