The new MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries is a long ways off from becoming available to the public for mass consumption. The good news is that Piranha Games have partnered up with another publication to show off over 25 minutes worth of MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries gameplay on PC to fill in the long wait time.
Cutting straight to the meat of things, Piranha Games and IGN have partnered up to show off the ShadowHawk mech, and Atlas mech in MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries.
The two videos have some gamers split on how to feel about the forthcoming game, which you can be the judge yourself and determine whether Piranha Games is doing a good job or a bad job:
Last time we got to see MechWarriors 5: Mercenaries was during MechCon 2017. Piranha Games president Russ Bullock took the stage to inform fans that the new game will sport a single-player mode and co-op capabilities, along with mod support.
As for Mercenaries single-player mode it will feature a “simulation-like campaign” where the player takes control of a mercenary company and can roam areas and fight different enemies.
According to Bullock, Mercenaries will support Steam Workshop, meaning that mod support should be able to fix anything that may seem irksome to you. This also means that all the usual stuff like graphical mods, SFX mods, and other modules to increase the immersion and gameplay will be possible after it launches.
It should be noted that the gameplay above does not represent the full version of the game. I’m not sure how the final game will be next year, but the videos not only feature unlimited ammo and some form of damage reduction, but it’s also “early footage” according to Piranha Games.
Lastly, MechWarriors 5: Mercenaries is set to debut sometime in December 2018. More information on this game can be found by hitting up mw5mercs.com.
