For starters, the upcoming fighting game will take place during the 16th century and will revisit the events of the original Soulcalibur game. The description states…
“Soulcalibur VI represents the latest entry in the premier weapons-based, head-to-head fighting series and continues the epic struggle of warriors searching for the legendary Soul Swords. Taking place in the 16th century, revisit the events of the original Soulcalibur to uncover hidden truths. The heroic battles transpire in a beautiful and fluid world, with eye-popping graphics and visual appeal. Soulcalibur VI tunes the battle, movement, and visual systems so players can execute visceral and dynamic attacks with ease. Soulcalibur VI marks a new era of the historic franchise and its legendary struggle between the mighty Soul Swords!
The website also goes on to talk about the engine, battle mechanics, and fighting styles. You can read the four mechanical points regarding Soulcalibur VI down below:
Unreal Engine: The franchise will be running on the Unreal Engine, and will sport better 3D character models, visual effects, and stages rendered in Unreal Engine for better immersion.
New Battle Mechanics: The new battle system allows veteran players to read opponents’ attacks to execute a strategic “Reversal Edge” to land different counter attacks while in guard.
Multiple Fighting Styles: Players will be able to choose from a worldly roster of warriors, each with their own deadly weapons, fighting styles and
visual flare.
Dynamic Battles: Battles will play out different from past iterations in some aspects. Fights will be faster at higher-speeds that feature all-new battle mechanics taking gameplay to “the next level”.
With all of that said, we learn from the “Multiple Fighting Styles” that there will be a roster of warriors to master, and given that in the above blockquote we will return to the original Soulcalibur, means that fan favorites or popular characters could return from the first game.
