SoulCalibur VI producer Motohiro Okubo has taken to a new video to break down Sophitia’s character. The new video briefly touches on Mitsurugi, but focuses heavily on Sophitia’s design and character. SoulCalibur VI is due out for PC via Steam, PS4 and Xbox One in 2018.
As mentioned above, SoulCalibur VI producer Okubo took to a new video to explain Sophitia. Although some fans wished that this video would have introduced a new character, we do learn that he hopes that other character models in SoulCalibur VI turn out “beautiful” like Mitsurugi and Sophitia’s design.
Additionally, Okubo also noted that he’d like it if gamers every now and then kept in mind while playing the game that this iteration of characters “hold cute charm” to their design:
“I do think that we were able to model them in a very beautiful way this time, with some cute charm as well. I’d like our fans to kind of keep this in mind as they’re having fun playing the game”.
It’ll be interesting see other characters in SoulCalibur VI’s roster and how they’ll fit the mold of “beautiful” with “cute charm”? As of now, only time will tell how each character’s alternate costume and design will be at launch.
Anyway, without wasting any more of your time you can watch what Okubo has to say about Sophitia, thanks to Bandai Namco:
If you did not catch everything that was said by Okubo, we learn that Sophitia is one of the core characters in SoulCalibur.
The warrior is from Athens and fights using a sword and shield, which her fighting style is said to represent the series “on the whole.” Sophitia’s orthodox fighting style is, according to Okubo, open for anyone to use well.
Furthermore, we learn that Sophitia is younger than in Soulcalibur IV. This opens up a new path and story so that “fate” can tell a unique story in this edition of SoulCalibur.
Lastly, Sophitia and Mitsurugi were actually the first characters made during the game’s development. The two characters stand as a foundation for the other characters such as their movement, visuals, etc., based on how they would fit with Sophitia and Mitsurugi.
SoulCalibur VI will be opened to the modding scene thanks to its PC via Steam release, which is joined by a PS4 and Xbox One debut in 2018.
