The Escapists 2 Launches On Nintendo Switch January 11th, 2018

Team17 and Mouldy Toof Studios announced today that The Escapists 2 will escape from the confines of the PS4, Xbox One and PC and make its way onto the Nintendo Switch starting January 11th, 2018.

The game originally came out back in August of 2017, so the Switch version will be arriving nearly six months after it first came out. If you didn’t already purchase the game back then, you can look to purchase the game starting next year for the Nintendo Switch.

The game will feature all the standard gameplay from the home console and PC versions, including the ability to make your own escapee, plot out your escape routes with your buddies in co-op , craft items to help in your escapades, and even construct your very own prison to escape. You can check out the video trailer below showcasing the Switch version in action.

As showcased in the trailer, the Switch version gets an additional co-op mode where you can separate the Joy-Cons and play split-screen, in addition to the standard four-player modes.

The base game includes 11 different prisons to escape from, all new multi-storey prisons, and more than 300 different customization options for the characters.

Unfortunately it doesn’t sound like the Switch version will receive all of the latest holiday-themed updates since the PC release back in August. So you’re getting some things while being left out of others. On the upside the prison editor appears to have made the cut, so that will give you nearly infinite amounts of replayability.

The Escapsists 2 is already a fairly popular game, and the original sold quite well due to its 16-bit throwback design and RPG mechanics centered around time management and stealth.

The Switch version will cost the exact same amount as the PS4, PC and Xbox One versions of the game, clocking in at just $19.99. You can look for it to become available on the Nintendo eShop starting January 11th, 2018.
