Dragon Ball FighterZ Beta: Beginner’s Guide To Learning The Controls

If you are looking to master the controls of Bandai Namco and Arc System Works’ Dragon Ball FighterZ, hopefully this guide will help you figure out both PS4 and Xbox One controls. The fighting game’s beta is live for PS4 and Xbox One.

Without wasting any time, you can see a visual guide to learning Dragon Ball FighterZ’s control thanks to YouTuber CALLMEARJ:

The L1 and L2 triggers are for the Z Assist. Holding down on the triggers will perform a Z Change. You can use L1 and R2 during an ultimate move to perform an Ultimate Z Change.

Pressing X + Circle with the R2 trigger will perform a super dash, while pressing R1 will perform a sparking blast. Square + Triangle and R1 will perform a Dragon Rush.

  • Square is a light attack
  • Triangle performs a medium attack
  • Triangle + Circle will perform a vanish
  • Circle performs a heavy attack
  • X + Square will perform a Ki charge

You can get an even in-depth look at the controls of Dragon Ball FighterZ for DualShock controllers below.

The controls stay exactly the same for the Xbox One layout.

Simply swap X, Square, Triangle and Circle on the DualShock with A, X, Y and B on the Xbox controller.

As you can see the controls stay exactly the same as the DualShock counterpart.

Light, Medium, Heavy Attacks

Upon pressing Light = L, Medium = M, and Heavy = H buttons will produce attacks according to their names. You will be able to link and cancels these attacks depending on the character you are assuming, which should opt for devastating attacks.

Heavy

Upon pressing five Heavy = H attacks will result in you blasting your opponent to the corner/other side of the screen. Two Heavy = H attacks will pop your opponent up in the air.

Special

The Special = S button can be executed by pressing the X button on PS4 and the A button on Xbox One. You will also find that this Special = S button goes by the name of Ki Blast/Charge. It will shoot out projectile based attacks that relate to said character.

Assist 1 and Assist 2 Characters

The R1 button is Assist 1 = A1 and R2 is Assist 2 = A2 on PS4, and Right Bumper is Assist 1 = A1 and the Right Trigger is Assist 2 = A2 on Xbox One to call in your other teammates.
