Ubisoft rolled out a new update for Ghost Recon: Wildlands featuring all new gear, items, costumes, fixes, a brand new mode, and two new maps. The update is free for everyone who owns the game, whether it’s on Xbox One, PS4 or PC.
The new mode is called Extraction and is part of the Extended Ops update. It plays out identical to the Rainbow Six: Siege mode, where two teams vie to control hostages. Just like Ubisoft’s other competitive shooter, the 4-vs-4 mode in Ghost Recon: Wildlands sees one team attempting to locate and rescue a hostage and then get them to safety, while the opposing team must keep control of the hostage and kill the rescuers.
The Extraction mode is played out across two different maps, an Institute and a Garage. The Garage looks like a grimy, dirty place to have a firefight… perfect for the projectile-laden showdowns in a game like Ghost Recon: Wildlands. But what’s a mode mimicking Rainbow Six worth without some rip-off costumes as well? Well, there are some rip-off costumes from Rainbow Six: Siege present in the update, too. You can check all of the content out in the trailer below.
In addition to all of the new content for gamers, they also made some changes to the current classes in the game, fixing some balancing issues, some exploit issues, and some spectating issues. You can check out the full changelog for the details.
Additionally, the update also makes it where the Fallen Ghost weapons from the DLC are now available in the main game. A new colorblind mode was implemented for those who suffer from visual impairments, and they added some more loot crates to the cash shop… because it’s Ubisoft, duh.
Ghost Recon: Wildlands was way too boring for my tastes, but if you enjoy the open-world sandbox gameplay for the third-person shooter that came out last year for home consoles and PC, you can check out the free update for the game right now.
