NetherRealm Studios released the new gameplay trailer for Injustice 2’s latest character, Enchantress. She’s nothing like the villain from David Ayer’s Suicide Squad, but actually seems to share more in common with the Mortal Kombat sorcerer, Quan Chi.
Design wise, the Enchantress is far less seductive than how she’s typically portrayed, wearing a kind of full-body safari outfit. Fighting wise, she’s not bad, though.
Enchantress can utilize teleportation abilities to get the drop on opponents, utilizing magic to stop projectiles that can also shut down zoners. You can check out the trailer below.
Enchantress has the ability to use her magic to call in help from a ghoul, mind-control her opponents and use some snazzy magic for long range damage.
Her special sees her taking out her opponent’s soul and having it beat them into a pulp. It’s kind of lame, but it works.
Most fans recognize that her abilities and combos seem to mimic the telekinesis of Kenshi, with the body-control of Quan Chi, and the soul-stealing of Ermac.
Fighting-wise she looks good but her outfit really is quite lazy. She has the fighting abilities of a boss but the outfit of a hobo. A few of the commenters noted that this will be a redemption run for the character based on how poorly they felt she was depicted in Suicide Squad. Others were just glad she wasn’t belly-dancing. I think the belly-dancing was the least of Suicide Squad’s problems, especially when the whole plot of the film didn’t make a lick of sense and other than being a giant commercial for Harley Quinn it really didn’t seem to add much value to the DCEU.
Anyway, Enchantress will be available this January, but I’m guessing a lot of people will be more excited for the release of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Heck, even I might be convinced to pony up for the season pass to play as Ralph and Donnie.
