Laser League Heads Into Early Access On Steam February 8th

505 Games and Roll7 Announced that Laser League is currently scheduled to enter into Early Access on Steam starting February 8th next month. The game will be available on Steam for $14.99.

At the moment the game is currently going through an open beta phase, where gamers have been able to dive into and test out the multiplayer action-sports title for free so that Roll7 can garner feedback and fix up the game so it’s tidy and neat for its launch on February 8th.

During the first week of launch for Laser League on Early Access, the game will be discounted by 30% off, giving gamers an opportunity to purchase the title for even cheaper yet.

Unlike other games out there that constantly pit players against each other in Last Man Standing matches (now known more ubiquitously as the Battle Royale sub-genre), Roll7 decided to focus on competitive cooperative play, giving players a reason to team up and work together to strategize their tactics and overcome their opponents. Neil Ralley, the president of 505 Games, explained what they were gunning for with Laser League, mentioning in the press release…

“Laser League is a game built with community and co-op as our number 1 priority; we believe it represents team-based play at its very best, and that sense of teamwork extends to involving our fans in development,”

“Through our initial beta tests, we have been energized and inspired by the content and feature suggestions the community has shared and we’re looking forward to exploring that input further through our open beta this weekend as well as the Early Access program beginning Feb. 8.”

Right now, anyone can join in on the open beta for Laser League, and play-test the game ahead of its Early Access run. You’ll only have up until January 28th to get in on the open beta… after that it ends.

You can get a look at what the gameplay is like with the trailer below.

The Early Access version of the game will feature all new content, however. This includes a total of 12 different maps, each with their own gimmicks and personalities, along with additional game modes that will be available for each map as well.

Roll7 has supposedly designed Laser League to be a pick-up-and-play game, not unlike Psyonix’s Rocket League.

Servers are currently available for North Americans, Europeans, Russians and those in Singapore. More servers and more classes are expected to make an appearance during the Early Access phase.
