Semisoft, Another Indie and Mayflower Entertainment announced that Legrand Legacy, the Kickstarted role-playing game that hearkens back to the days of PlayStation 2 JRPGs, has officially launched on Steam for PC at the moderate price of $24.99.

The hack-and-slash RPG follows a freed slave named Finn, who vows to repay his debt by rescuing the daughter of the man who freed him. Players will follow Finn on his journey throughout Legrand, a land on the brink of war. Finn will eventually encounter a group of rebels intent on quelling the uprising tensions by preventing the world from being basked in the turmoils of war once more.

Players will have to venture around, gathering their party by recruiting Legrand citizens and building up their forces by leveling up, acquiring better gear, and battling foes along the way. As you can see, the gameplay seems somewhat reminiscent to Resonance of Fate, which combined elements of action-oriented, cinematic combat with turn-based combat.

There are also mini-games present, such as being able to go fishing, along with battling it out in arena-style fencing duels.

The developers attempted to mix art-styles from both the East and the West, giving gamers anime-inspired character designs with European-inspired architecture and environments. The characters are in 3D while the backgrounds are hand-painted, kindling the classic JRPG design from the PSX and PS2 era. The game also supports gamepads along with partial keyboard and mouse controls.

Alternatively, if you would prefer to wait and get it on home console, the game is due for release during the third quarter of 2018 for the Nintendo Switch, and it’s scheduled to release for the Xbox One and PS4 during the first half of 2019 next year, meaning that it’s been delayed for home consoles from its original first quarter, 2018 release.
