Looking for a hybrid first-person shooter with building and online elements? Publisher 505 Games and developer Limbic Entertainment are currently working on Memories of Mars, a PC game set to hit Steam Early Access this Spring.
Memories of Mars is said by the devs to be an open world survival game with online and sandbox features nestled within. Set on Mars in the future, players take up the mantle of a recently awakened human clone in the abandoned mining operations of “The Red Planet”.
On “The Red Planet” where the act of colonizing is under question due to lethal discoveries, players must find a way to live on the harsh surface of Mars:
“100 years in the future, something happened on Mars. Once frequently visited, it is now abandoned with some left behind. Explore and Survive the Red Planet.”
Gameplay footage via a new trailer that 505 Games released can be seen below.
Memories of Mars also features basic survival elements. In other words, players must look after their vital signs to make sure actions can be performed efficiently. This includes health, stamina, nutrition, body temperature and oxygen.
Furthermore, if players have proper stamina the possibility of building can be a thing. According to the devs, building a small base or collaborating with other players to build a much larger base to survive is encouraged, since the ultimate goal is to survive on Mars.
The land area of Memories of Mars stands at 16 square km. This landscape is complete with deserts, craters, canyons, rocky planes, and mesas. Over 85 points of interest are available, which unique NPCs and other players can visit.
I’m not sure how this game will turn out at launch, but if you want to discover more of Memories of Mars, you can hit up its newly posted Steam Early Access page.
