Wyrmbyte released a new trailer for the upcoming game Nightmarchers, their Polynesian-themed third-person, mystical shooter. The latest video covers Maui, the Kupua demi-god.

The video describes Maui as a god born through a feathered form. The minute and a half long video explains why the mythical god has come out of hibernating in a totem to help the lead character, Kai. Apparently after seeing the corruption of Kamapua, he decided to help clean up Hawaii of all the filthy false-god thugs.

However, before Maui can fully help you, you first have to rebuild his heiau and restore his honor. You can get a glimpse of what the god’s powers are like with the trailer below.

In the video we see Maui take on both a human and bird-like form, as mentioned in his description at the beginning of the video.

As a gift for restoring his power, the main character, Kai, is granted the ability to soar. This literally allows him to turn into a bird and soar across the skies.

Upgrading his abilities along the way will enable him to fly for longer and at greater heights.

Players will have to balance how their skill points are distributed across nine different skill categories. Each category requires its own skill points to upgrade the abilities.

The skill menu is also briefly put on display where we see that there are four factions you’ll have to dismantle throughout your playthrough, each one have their own outposts that you’ll need recapture, just like Ubisoft’s Far Cry games.

The end of the video showcases the hero jumping off a cliff and turning into a bird where he scouts some of the areas around the map and some of the strongholds held by the enemy gangs.
