Past Cure Teaser Trailer Reminds Gamers About The Third-Person Stealth-Shooter

With the February 23rd release date fast approaching, Phantom 8 Studios is focused on getting the word out about the upcoming third-person, action-stealth game for the PC, Xbox One and PS4, Past Cure. A new 32 second teaser trailer was released to remind gamers about the upcoming release.

While the trailer doesn’t showcase much of any kind of gameplay and we don’t get to see any of the cinematics, the trailer is more like a whet-your-appetite teaser rather than a full course meal. You can check it out below.

Now obviously, a lot of gamers are probably wondering “What did I just watch?”. Well, don’t fret because if you’re at least curious about what the game is like, there is another, lengthier video available that goes over some of the special abilities that players can use and how they can intermix both stealth and melee combat to overcome enemies in a stage.

The setup is that players assume the role of Ian, an ex-special forces soldier who was subjugated to extreme forms of experimentation and torture, rendering him with telekinetic and psychokinetic abilities. However, the experiments also left his mind almost completely fractured, where he’s sometimes unable to tell reality from his nightmarish hallucinations. In the level demonstrated in the video below, you get to see how Ian can use his astral projection to scout the levels, and use stealth to avoid encounters. When push comes to shove, he can then whip out his martial arts skills.

The game allows you to use the telekinesis to disable cameras and some other electronic security devices using a short range EMP. Shorting out cameras will alert nearby guards, however.

If you would prefer to get violent, you can use Ian’s time manipulation abilities to slow down time and rush enemies by shooting them in the head or punching them in the face.

It’s really similar to Max Payne, but with the added bonus of being able to use melee attacks.

You can look for Past Cure to drop on the PS4, PC and Xbox One starting February 23rd next month for only $29.99. You can keep track of updates by visiting the Steam store page.
