10tons announced recently that their top-down, twin-stick sci-fi shooter, Tesla Vs Lovecraft is due for release on January 26th in two week’s time.
The game will launch first on PC and in a couple of months it’ll also make its debut on PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
Tesla Vs Lovecraft follows in a similar vein to other 10ton titles, such as Jydge, Crimsonland and Neon Chrome. In fact, the upcoming game most resembles a mix of Neon Chrome combined with Crimsonland.
The game sees players assuming the role of the ingenious Nikola Tesla getting inside of his Tesla-tech mecha robot and laying waste to hordes of Eldritch abominations using the power of static electricity. The arcade style game allows you to utilize a number of power-ups and weapons in order to blast through the enemies and tactically work your way around the map to avoid being cornered and overrun. You can see what the game is like with the gameplay trailer below.
The game seems like 10ton’s most polished arcade shooter to date.
You can see where they’ve combined a lot of elements from their previous games into one. You have the teleportation abilities that were heavily featured in Time Recoil, but with the explosive, horde-based gameplay that was present in Crimsonland.
Nikola Tesla starts on foot with his static shock weapon, and then eventually upgrades his arsenal to the mecha suit, blasting down hordes of enemies in the streets.
There will be a number of different weapons and experimental sci-fi gadgets for Tesla to acquire in his quest to overthrow the hordes pouring out of the mouth of Lovecraft’s madness, on his way to closing the gates to the Eldritch universe and saving humanity from the higher plane abominations.
