Team17 announced that Mouldy Toof Studios’ 16-bit RPG escape-artist game, The Escapists 2, is now available for the Nintendo Switch. The game originally came out back in August of 2017, last summer for PC. It later released for the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 to wide acclaim. Well, now Nintendo Switch owners will be able to plot and plan their escape whether it be at home on the couch, in bed next to the weekend mistress, or during the long commute to that job you wish you quit five years ago.
The Escapists 2 puts players in 10 different sandbox environments, where they must work with other players in the two-player co-op mode or work at it alone, and attempt to flee from the prisons to complete the game. There’s also a four-player co-op and four-player versus online mode, just like the PC, PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game.
Much like classic RPGs, you’ll have to complete specific tasks in order to progress through the prison and eventually make a daring escape. You can see what the gameplay is like with the launch trailer below.
As showcased in the trailer, there’s a myriad of ways to get out of each prison, and you can do so in style with over 300 different customization items.
To help aid you in your escape, you’ll need a variety of different items to complete certain tasks. You can either purchase some of the items, steal them, or craft them. There are 250 items in total sprinkled across the 10 different prisons.
If you’re still not sure about the game, there’s an hour’s worth of gameplay footage demonstrated on the Nintendo Switch in real-time via a live-stream session that Team17 uploaded to YouTube. You can check that out below.
The Escapists 2 is currently available for the Nintendo Switch for only $19.99, which is a lot cheaper than the $30 that some stores are asking for when it comes to buying the game for the Xbox One or PS4.
You can learn more about the Switch version by visiting the official Team17 website or by dropping by the Nintendo eShop.
