Two Point Hospital Is The Spiritual Successor To Theme Hospital

Two Point Hospital was recently announced by Sega recently for PC. The game is a throwback to the classic Theme Hospital from Bullfrog Productions.

The game received a short introductory trailer to give you a quick heads up about the upcoming game, which is due out later this year on Steam. Two Point Studios is heading up the development, which would make this the second project that they’re working on under the Sega publishing label.

You can check out the short minute long trailer that was rolled out, courtesy of DT Gaming.

It appears that the game will move beyond the simple tycoon management design the old Theme Hospital used to have, where you would need to upgrade your equipment, expand your waiting rooms, hire in doctors, and grow your hospital. We briefly see in the trailer that there are advanced technologies you’ll need to research and deploy into your hospital, along with hiring the best doctors that money can buy.

What’s new here seems to be the kind of kooky patients you might encounter where they have oddball ailments, such as the dude with a light-bulb for a head. We also see that there are some other odd looking folks walking around as well, such as the cobbled together-looking robot people. I’m not entirely sure what’s up with that.

Anyway, I’m curious what else will be added to the game to give it some fresh life? Plenty of remakes and remasters have been popping up these days but few have actually gone the extra mild to push the boundaries forward when it comes to reviving a classic brand, genre or mechanic. Hopefully this isn’t just Sega aiming to cash in on the thirst for a Theme Hospital revival by making publishing a status quo successor.

We’ll likely find out more about Two Point Hospital later into the year, ahead of its late 2018 release. For more info feel free to check out the official Two Point Hospital website.
