Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[st] Arrives In America Feb 9th For PS3, PS4, PS Vita

Aksys Games, Arc System Works and French Bread announced that Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[s] is coming to the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita on February 9th in North America.

The release of the game marks a momentous occasion for Under Night In-Birth fans because the latest game has been re-balanced and tweaked to offer gamers a smoother and more mechanically sound experience, as mentioned by Aksys Games CEO, Akibo Shieh, who stated in the press release…

“The dev team has spent a lot of time rebalancing and perfecting the game for this release, and we’re excited for fans to experience this new edition,”

“Gamers who appreciate ‘real’ 2D fighters and anime fans will also enjoy discovering this unique series for the first time.”

The series has typically launched consistently in Japan, but has a small niche following in the West, thanks a lot in part to gamers who latch onto anything French Bread puts out.

The game features 20 playable characters with 2D anime fighting controls, both local and online game modes, and a visual-novel style single-player mode where you dive into the game’s story about the Hollow Night taking over Japan and as one of the chosen who can see the Void monsters that are birthed under the Hollow Night, you must attempt to stop their spread throughout Japan.

You can see what the gameplay is like with the video below from HYDEgaming.

For fans of Melty Blood you’ll find a similar character design style in Under Night In-Birth, but with faster gameplay and a focus on transitional combos, not unlike Nitroplus Blasterz: Heroines Infinite Duel.

Hopefully the netcode is solid for gamers who want to play against their friends online, and hopefully the online portion of the game isn’t broken. A lot of times when Japanese games make the porting transition to the West there’s some technical stability that seems to get lost in translation at times.

Anyway, you can look for Under Night In-Birth Exe: Late[s] to arrive on PS3, PS4 and the PlayStation Vita starting February 9th. You can hit up the official web portal for a bit more information.
