During Pareto Securities Gaming Seminar 2018 event, CD Projekt Red’s Piotr Nielubowicz and Adam Kiciński made an appearance to talk about the company, GWENT, GOG.com, and Cyberpunk 2077.
The unlisted video by Finwire.tv and the preview for customers of Pareto Securities has appeared for your viewing pleasure, however the eight hour long event features CD Projekt Red’s Nielubowicz and Kiciński. The two talk about a list of things during their time at the conference, which you can watch right here starting at 3:15:55. The Cyberpunk 2077 talk starts at 3:34:05.
There’s a small piece of information to glean from the talk for Cyberpunk 2077. According to both Nielubowicz and Kiciński, the futuristic RPG is going to be the team’s “new Witcher 3“. The team feels most comfortable talking about Cyberpunk 2077 than talking about GWENT given that they have done something similar in design to Cyberpunk 2077 in the past in the form of The Witcher.
As mentioned in previous reports regarding CD Projekt Red, Cyberpunk 2077 will be “even more ambitious” than The Witcher series of games, and the team’s goal is to establish “a new blockbuster franchise from the beginning.”
Kiciński claims that Cyberpunk 2077 will “appeal” to players and be a “true RPG” that also appeals to “RPG players.” The game will not be a half or 1/4 RPG, but a true role-playing game much like The Witcher 3 according to Kiciński.
Past interviews that featured CD Projekt Red developers touched on the game being handcrafted through the new RedEngine, but it was reiterated this time around that Cyberpunk 2077 “is handcrafted” with a lot of detail put into the world, and it also sports “open ended gameplay”.
Furthermore, Cyberpunk 2077 world/universe will allow CD Projekt Red to work without binds unlike a predefined world like The Witcher universe. This is said to help the team to add in various creative decisions into the game that you might not expect.
As for gameplay and the quality of the interactive experience, the two are a main priority at this point, with well over 300 people confirmed to be working on Cyberpunk 2077 according to Kiciński.
At 3:58:26 a crowd member asked a question about Cyberpunk 2077 and the first gameplay video, which Nielubowicz replies “When it’s ready”, but Kiciński says that a gameplay video will appear before “When it’s ready”.
The team will not start a campaign to announce a campaign. In other words the full promotional campaign will let everyone know when it starts and will show gamers and fans alike what needs to be shown. In addition, the promotional campaign will start “one day” as a surprise.
CD Projekt Red’s stage presentation ended at 13:00 or 1:00 P.M. (4:06:46), but before the two left the stage another audience member asked a question whether games by CD Projekt Red like Cyberpunk 2077 will be exclusive to GOG.com, Kiciński replied and said the team wants to be “for gamers” and give players a choice like how The Witcher games are on Steam.
