Closers, Episodic Anime Action-RPG Is Available To Download For Free

An episodic, anime-style, action-RPG from Naddic Games and En Masse Entertainment called Closers has officially graduated from Early Access and has launched on Steam or can be downloaded from the official website as a free-to-play title.

The game is about horrific monstrosities from another dimension making their way to Earth. It’s up to a special group known as Closers to stop these monsters. Each Closer has their own story arc and you’ll be able to play through each of their episodes to unlock the story and see what each of them experience from their point of view. Each Closer comes with their own play-style, abilities, personality and story arc. It’s like a story-oriented version of Gunz: The Duel meets S4 League.

You can see how the game plays out with the launch trailer below, which combines the anime sequences with the actual in-game play.

Speaking of in-game play, the play-style is very similar to third-person, hack-and-slash shooters, a little bit like Devil May Cry or Bayonetta.

The game mixes all the standard hardcore, fast-paced action mechanics you would expect from a standard, controller-based console title from Platinum Games or CyberConnect2, but it implements that into the social hubs most commonly found in the free-to-play South Korean clones that were oh-so-popular during the mid-aughts.

In fact, you can customize each of the Closers with various outfits, accessories and gear that suits your play-style, or head to the social lounge where you can also perform certain activities like dancing and posing. In fact, the Gravure mode allows you to outfit the characters in various clothes that you can pick up from the cash shop, change the background, alter the camera angle and snap away.

It’s very similar to what you would expect from the Dead or Alive Xtreme games, but obviously with graphics that just aren’t quite up to par.

The developers are also constantly adding new content to the game, including new bosses to fight, new areas to explore, and new items to unlock. The most recent addition was the boss Tiamat, the sultry villainess who is available to fight in the game since the official launch.

There’s not much to lose if you decide to check out Closers given that it’s free-to-play. Some users enjoy it while others say that it still needs some optimization and bug fixing.

A lot of the reviews are giving it high scores because it has a loli-trap, so if you’re into that sort of thing, you can grab the free client either from the Steam store page or from the official Closers website.
