Code Vein made headlines in the Weekly Famitsu not too long ago about its communication function and multiplayer mode, but it seems that Bandai Namco wants to elaborate on said features while showing off more characters in Code Vein through a new batch of screenshots.
Bandai Namco’s Code Vein is an action-adventure RPG set in a mysterious yet destroyed world, where towering skyscrapers, once symbols of prosperity, are now lifeless graves of humanity’s past impaled by the “Thorns of Judgment.”
At the center of the destruction remains a hidden society of Revenants called Vein. This final stronghold is where the remaining few fight to survive, and if the fighting gets too tough friends can always help you out in the struggle to live.
We see the act of friends or strangers helping other players, the communication system, and more characters revealed through a batch of new screens as posted below.
The following description that Bandai Namco posted matches up with an interview published by Dengeki Online back on June 16th, 2017. The interview featured Code Vein producer Keita Iizuka and director Hiroshi Yoshimura, who shared information about the upcoming action RPG and how they wanted the game to be “satisfying”, but on the other hand, accessible enough where it wouldn’t “break the player’s spirit”:
“Code Vein gives players the chance to answer requests for help from other Revenants finding difficulty battling against the Lost. Explore and defeat the enemies lurking through each dungeon with your A.I. companion and another human player to get through difficult areas of the game. Players can communicate through a combination of gestures, stamps and voice commands for added teamwork.
The second paragraph explains two new characters named Karen and Cruz. You can read the bio of Karen and Cruz right here:
Two new characters have been announced for Code Vein; Karen and Cruz. Karen is the older sister of Louis who passed away but was revived as a Revenant. Her job is to take care and support Revenants in battle. Cruz has withstood horrific experiments in an attempt to save mankind. Under the intense pressure of unsuccessful experiment, she became a destruction incarnate within the world of Code Vein due to complex matters.”
If any of the above has piqued your interest you can look forward to Code Vein to hit PC, PS4 and Xbox One sometime this year (2018).
