Fishing: Barents Sea Realistic Fishing Sim Available For Download On Steam

Misc Games and Astragon Entertainment Fishing: Barents Sea is currently available on Steam for $19.99. During the first week of being on sale the game is discounted by 10% off, so you can get it for $17.99.

Fishing: Barents Sea is a highly realistic fishing and boating simulator, where you start off on a rickety old boat and you’ll need to fish in the open sea, make some money, buy a bigger boat, and hunt bigger fish.

The game is surprisingly gorgeous, capturing the poetic hardships of a fisherman at sea. The game isn’t just about riding big boats on curvaceous waves, though. You’ll also be able to walk around on the boat, setup your lines, gut the fish, and even cook ’em up on your own stove.

The simulation oriented gameplay is showcased in a near half hour video demonstration put together by YouTuber Draegast. You can check it out below.

I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I have to say that Misc Games really took me by surprise here. The nautical ecosystem and aquamarine life is really fascinating and well depicted. There’s a serene sense of zen as you’re traveling out to the deeper parts of the sea in order to catch you good ‘ole fish.

The game utilizes official Scanmar technology along with the TrawlEye, so you can have complete control of your boat and its equipment. The bigger the boat, the more equipment you’ll have at your disposal, but it’s all worth it for the ambitious.

Fishing Barents Sea - Riding Waves

As you can see there are some fantastic water simulation effects at work. Misc Games really stepped up their game here. The water and weather simulation is actually based on 20 years worth of real life meteorological data.

There’s a dynamic day and night system, along with shifting moon cycles that will affect the sea conditions. There are six playable ships, advanced sea-life artificial intelligence and a large open-world sea-box for players to ride around in.
