Scottish game developer, Blazing Griffith, recently announced that they have a new game in the works that’s based on the concept that Blazing Griffith came up with for their stealth-oriented multiplayer game, The Ship: Remastered.
The game is about a mysterious host named Mr. X assigning select guests a particular task: to kill another guest.
Murderous Pursuits is set on a flying ship in an alternate reality of the Victorian era. Players will take on the role of one of the guests, with the other roles being fulfilled by NPCs. The trick is, you won’t know who is an AI and who is a player, and your goal will be to kill your target without being seen or outed as a killer.
In a way, the game plays out very similar to the PvP modes of Assassin’s Creed games, which saw players assuming the role of assassins and attempting to kill other players without giving themselves away.
In the case of Murderous Pursuits, there are NPC guards patrolling around who will be more than willing to take you down for being a murderous scumbag.
The highlight of the video, however, is that after the player commits the crime and changes into a disguise, they end up getting offed by another player who is standing around by a barrel, seemingly partaking in a nonchalant game of cards.
This kind of subterfuge and clandestine behavior is how players will come out on top in a game like Murderous Pursuits.
This all leads into part of the game’s meta-aspects, which are called “vignettes”. These are basically no different than in Assassin’s Creed, where you could sit on a bench, engage in a conversation, or huddle in a group to blend in.
A lot of people enjoyed the game The Ship, so it stands to reason that they might like the spiritual successor in the form of Murderous Pursuits. You can look for the game to arrive this March on Steam for PC. For more info feel free to hit up the game’s official website.
