Ready Player One Latest Trailer Goes All In On An Orgy Of Visual Vomit

The final trailer for Ready Player One has dropped, and it’s desperately trying to win over viewers with its “Hey, hey, look at me, look at me!” nostalgia shtick. It’s a story about a boy in a virtual world fighting against an evil mega corporation that may as well be a stand-in for Electronic Arts in 2044. He joins up with his diverse group of friends and attempts to save the virtual reality known as the Oasis.

The hilarious part about it is that this movie is supposed to be set in the future but all of the elements and themes they’re using to promote the film are from pop culture in the past. You mean to tell me nothing new or cool was made in the next 26 years? Like come on, it would have been a prime opportunity to give budding artists an opportunity to flesh their creative muscles and showcase their design chops by including some neat new IP-worthy designs.

Anyway, majority of Ready Player One focuses on stuff people used to enjoy before became corrupted by corporate politics and greed.

The latest trailer attempts to focus on the story and characterization, but it’s such a cheesy Saturday morning cartoon premise with a lot of casual-fanfare strewn throughout that I can’t help but wonder who’s actually rosy-cheeked with a sanguine supposition about this flick?

There’s even a quick clip of a bunch of kids running down the street, while in the Oasis they’re a group of Spartans from the formerly-popular first-person shooter franchise, Halo.

This movie always looks like a cornucopia of visual vomit.

I still can’t even make out what the heck the main character’s in-game avatar is supposed to be, and the 3D is pretty awful.

Every time they showcase some villain within the Oasis I literally cannot make out what the heck they are shooting at or attacking, and the whole thing looks like one big advertisement for “Hey, do you remember that popular thing from that popular thing?!”

Sadly a bunch of casuals fell for the fanfare and are already filling up the comment sections with the exact kind of response Warner Bros., was likely looking for.

You can look for this likely disasterpiece to hit theaters come March 29th.
