Fatshark announced that the official release date for Warhammer: Vermintide 2 on PC is set for March 8th, 2018. The news about the release date was accompanied by an all new three minute gameplay trailer.
The new gameplay trailer is a great showcase of what Fatshark has planned for the sequel, and it’s certainly not just a rehash of the first game with a few new classes. The team have completely overhauled how you progress in the game and how your team will have to use a heck of a lot of teamwork to overcome some impressive odds.
You can check out the gameplay video below.
As you can see the group of four players aren’t just standing still through an arena-style map. The new maps are a lot more progressive, where you won’t find yourself stuck moving around in circles, but actually progressing forward.
Throughout the video the team quickly makes their way through a horde of enemies, hacking, slashing, cutting and mincing their way through the forest and toward the High Elf fortress. The waves are spaced apart so you have some scattered squads to take care of and then large groups of hordes that come pouring out.
Melee combat is both smooth and visceral. We see that players will have to cut through enemy forces as quickly as possible while also using projectiles to keep the hordes at bay. It’s an ebb and flow to the gameplay that will most likely make a lot of gamers feel both the intensity and the exhilaration of combat.
You can look for the game to make its way to the PC starting March 8th. The Steam store page is currently active. Meanwhile the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of the game are due for release later on in 2018. For further info be sure to visit the official website.
