Between the Stars was once featured on the now defunct Steam Greenlight platform and is now looking to release on Steam for PC. The single-player indie space game, by Isolated Games, is set to release sometime this year.
Space-goers looking to embark on a dangerous adventure without any multiplayer mechanics tucked away into the core design, will have Between the Stars to look forward to. The indie developers are currently ironing out the bugs and polishing the game up, but it is still slated to release this year for PC.
At its heart, Between the Stars is a roguelike game where folks play as a captain of a military spaceship. The goal is to locate and find the capital of the Republic and defend it from attacks from the outer world.
“Become the captain of a stellar cruiser and cross the galaxy to save the Galactic Republic. During your journey you will have to make important decisions, improve the weaponry of your ship and fight against numerous enemies.”
During the long journey there will be encounters that can change a list of things (like your ship and crew) that will pop up. These encounters will feature new people that you can recruit or dismiss, weapons, systems, and upgrades.
The game running on Unity can be seen below, however the video footage that’s up contains Alpha gameplay — meaning things might change at launch. The video comes in by Isolated Games.

If you are looking for a complex commerce or world system in Between the Stars, there’s bad news for you in that there’s no plans for such things. Instead, players will progress through the star-map by completing boss-like fights. This system is to fulfill a roguelike design and not an RTS setup.
Between the Stars is set to release in 2018 and will be available for PC. The game in question will not release on Early Access, but on Steam.
