CD Projekt Red Claims Cyberpunk 2077 Will Be Single-Player Focused With No MTX

During CD Projekt Red’s fiscal year 2017 financial presentation, Piotr Nielubowicz and Adam Kiciński made an appearance to talk about the company, GWENT, The Witcher, and Cyberpunk 2077.

Firstly, CD Projekt Red posted up a video on YouTube for its FY2017 financial results, which in the video Nielubowicz touched on how CDPR joined WIG20 in March and how it was a milestone for the company. He also highlights other events and accomplishments made throughout  2017 regarding GWENT, GOG.com, and so on.

In terms of a certain futuristic RPG by CDPR, the workload and resource consumption of Cyberpunk 2077 currently remains the team’s largest ongoing project. You can watch the new video right here.

Not too long after the above video was published to YouTube came yet another video, but this time it featured both Nielubowicz and Kiciński.

During the event, words spoken by Nielubowicz and Kiciński covered topics about Cyberpunk 2077 such as character creation, multiple playable classes, multiple roles being confirmed, no microtransactions or other service models being featured, and that when you pay for the game once that’s it.

Looking deeper into the conference and on Cyberpunk 2077, the game will be “very technologically advanced” and is developed in such a way to take advantage of future hardware and consoles.

CDPR’s current goal is to deliver an amazing narrative in a single-player experience, however at some point the team might add in some online features — but there’s a big might.

Something worth highlighting is that unlike The Witcher, in Cyberpunk the player will be able to move in three dimensions. Details about this mechanic have been left unsaid, but I’m sure more will be elaborated on in the future.

Furthermore, during the conference it was said that CDPR will not make an announcement of an announcement, but there will be a showcase around E3, but it will be announced “just before the show.”

From the sounds of it, the new proprietary REDEngine has been worked in such a way that Cyberpunk 2077 is “very advanced” and that the tech is “ready to interface with future generations.”

You can watch the video that covers quite a bit of stuff about the company and its projects, including Cyberpunk 2077 (starting around 45:45).

Lastly, CDPR’s larger games will have a focus on stronger platforms like PCs and home consoles. As for other games, they’re not planning anything just yet for the Nintendo Switch.

Cyberpunk 2077 will release when it’s ready.
