Battlefield 2018 is currently under the magnifying glass and fans and gamers alike want to know what this year’s Battlefield game will be like. According to EA DICE artwork, fans might be treated to a game that explores events around the interwar period between World War I and World War II.
Notice: The following information should be taken as a rumor. EA and DICE (or EA DICE) have not disclosed the setting to this year’s Battlefield game, meaning the information you are about to read is purely speculation and should be taken with a grain of salt.
Battlefield 1 Leaker AlmightyDaq claims that Battlefield 2018 will be set in World War II, and the game after that will be Battlefield: Bad Company 3. Although AlmightyDaq has been accurate in the past there’s no telling if he is right this time around.
Information that seems to coincide with a World War II Battlefield game can be traced back to Peter Olofsson Hermanrud — a former EA DICE employee that now works for Bungie — who posted up a WW2 PPSh-41, and EA DICE artist Madina Chionidi, who posted up images of a Karabiner 98k.
Additional information that links up with this year’s Battlefield game being set in World War II comes from Seth Nash, who worked on Battlefield 1’s Turning Tides DLC. Nash seems to have images/renders of 101st Airborne troops and German Heer soldiers on his ArtStation account:
The above images have been on his account for a few years, however another EA DICE employee (concept artist intern) Johannes Palmblad seems to have more recent World War II related stuff on his account. Just six months ago Palmblad posted the following description and concept art:
“Character designs for the three fighters from different partisan factions during World War 2 and the interwar period.”
If you don’t know, the Spanish Civil War broke out in 1936, a year after the German Heer forces were formed (1935), and the Heer units also participated in that very conflict.
The thing is, will Battlefield 2018 explore various battles after World War I and events during World War 2?
