NIS America released a new trailer and the official release date for the Touhou Project title, Touhou Genso Wanderer Reloaded. The game is due to release this summer starting July 17th, 2018 for the Nintendo Switch and the PlayStation 4 in North America and on July 20th, 2018 in Europe.
The release date came with a brand new trailer that also covered more of the game’s story and some of the new characters who will be appearing in the upcoming title, both as playable characters and as NPCs you encounter throughout the journey.
You can check out the trailer below.
We see five of the new characters in action during the latter half of the trailer, but the early first half gives you a look at some of the story elements. Apparently a darkness falls over the land and it’s up to a small group of heroes to dungeon crawl and defeat enemies, eventually making their way up to the top of the tower in order to discover the origins of the darkness and put it to rest for good.
The game is played via an overhead view, where you can unleash a series of powerful attacks against foes. Interestingly enough, NIS describes Touhou Genso Wanderer Reloaded as a “rogue-like” adventure RPG, but I’m a little hard-pressed to find the rogue elements in the game, given that it looks fairly straight-through to me. However, some gamers have stated that Touhou Genso Wanderer Reloaded’s rogue-like elements are similar to Mystery Dungeon with the random dungeon layouts. I suppose this applies to the tower that players will climb up in Wanderer Reloaded.
You can look for the newest Touhou Project title to launch for the Nintendo Switch and PS4 starting July 17th. NIS has opened up pre-orders for Aqua Style’s RPG over on the official NIS website.
