Are you looking for a basic guide to help you understand Fatshark’s Warhammer: Vermintide 2 and its characters? Hopefully this guide will help prevent you from becoming an irascible individual while playing. Vermintide 2 is out now for PC.
Notice: Given that Warhammer: Vermintide 2 is applicable to balance patches/updates, some of the below may be off if a future patch is dropped. The gist of this guide is to help newcomers get a basic ideal of each character and class.
Table of Contents
Kerillian
Shade: Kerillian as a Shade will be able to take up the mantle of the assassin’s path, making her strikes to unaware or distracted enemies much more potent. As the name of the class suggests, it specializes in stealth and critical damage to the unattentive.
Waystalker: This path reflects Kerillian’s skill with a bow and arrow. This class is best for pinpoint precision or sheer volume of arrows, whereupon loose-based shooting can answer any question from a horde of enemies.
Handmaiden: The Handmaiden path for Kerillian allows her to get up close and personal with foes via melee combat. Long weapons such as spears are shorter than a bow and arrow, but offer more reach than twin daggers.
A video guide by Potates explaining Kerillian and her different paths can be seen below.
Bardin Goreksson
Ranger Veteran: When Bardin takes up this path he favors both a head-on approach and ranged setup. This mix take allows him to use an arsenal of ranged and close-quarter weapons to bring certain death.
Ironbreaker: This path follows an old French slogan “They Shall Not Pass.” This path lets him overcome enemy lethal attacks by absorbing damage for your team, and pushing through tough enemies. Very defensive and offensive.
Slayer: Bardin is unable to use ranged weapons, but his melee capabilities become that much more lethal with hand axes or great-axes.
A more in-depth look at Bardin Goreksson can be seen below thanks to Potates.
Victor Saltzpyre
Bounty Hunter: Victor dons hefty armor and favors ranged weapons. In other words, this path excels in brute force rather than quick finesse.
Witch Hunter Captain: As a Witch Hunter Captain allows him to sport sharpened reactions, allowing him to perform critical damage. This path also grants Victor a noteworthy array of weapons to bear.
Zealot: The Zealot in Victor allows him to wield furious melee weapons such as heavy flails. This path turns him into a mad devout man.
Now that you have an ideal what each path Victor can take, Potates goes even deeper into each class.
Sienna Fuegonasus
Battle Wizard: Sienna can unleash helpful area of effect (AoE) spells, imbuing large numbers of enemies and turning charging hordes into ash.
Pyromancer: This path allows Sienna to focus on a ferocious single-target and annihilate it. In other words, this path focuses on incinerating the baddest rat of them all with melee and ranged attacks mixed.
Unchained: This setup for Sienna focuses on magically enhanced melee combat. She can provide an armor of flame that protects her and a might spell of fiery destruction.
A better look at Sienna lies below in a video guide by Potates.
Markus Kruber
Mercenary: The Mercenary is a pretty versatile unit, well balanced in armor and provides decent protection at a somewhat mobile state. In combat, the Mercenary is good at both close quarters combat and ranged fire.
Huntsman: Markus as a Huntsman can provide ranged support by using arrows or bullets. Without hefty armor he is light on his feet, and he can offer good damage per second (DPS) when fighting enemies.
Foot Knight: Markus as a Foot Knight stands to be a tank and defensive support to the team, which makes him a good wall against brute enemies.
Potates has a video detailing Markus and his different paths below.
