Battle Chasers: Nightwar Finally Arrives on Nintendo Switch May 15th

It took eight months, but Nintendo Switch owners will finally get an opportunity to play Airship Syndicate’s Battle Chasers: Nightwar starting next month on May 15th. The JRPG-inspired tale is based around the Western comic book of the same name, sporting stylized visuals from Joe Madureira, who many of you might be familiar with for his Darksiders art and working with Vigil Games to bring Darksiders to life.

Battle Chasers: Nightwar was a crowdfunded title, originally making its way into the public sphere via Kickstarter, way back in 2015. Airship Syndicate spent the next two years hard at work on the turn-based RPG, which mixed and match dungeon exploration with Japanese RPG-style combat. The hook for the combat is in the ability to utilize the over-charge ability to dish out Battle Bursts, which are visually spectacular moves that each of the characters can unleash.

The intro cinematic gives you a look at the six playable characters you can recruit to your team.

The actual game will only allow you to bring three characters on a mission with you at a single time, similar to the original Final Fantasy VII.

You’ll also have to deal with dodging traps, solving puzzles, and scouring the maze-like dungeons for treasure and loot.

To keep the replay values fresh, dungeons randomly generate, so you can hop back into the game and play it again for a completely different experience.

Originally Battle Chasers: Nightwar made its debut last fall, in October of 2017 for the PS4, Xbox One and PC. The Nintendo Switch version was also supposed to be released but things didn’t quite go the way the developers wanted and it ended up getting delayed by eight months.

Nevertheless, if you have a Nintendo Switch and you’re interested in checking the game out, you can look for Battle Chasers: Nightwar to launch on May 15th for $39.99.
