Quantic Dream co-founder, Guillaume de Foundaumiere, announced that Detroit: Become Human has officially gone gold. This means all principal development is complete and the game is off to the manufacturing and distribution centers to prep for its launch on May 25th, exclusively for the PlayStation 4.
You can download the demo right now from over on the PlayStation Store.
The news comes courtesy of a post on the PlayStation Blog by Foundaumiere, who talked about the four years the team spent working on the game, and that the “puzzle” is finally coming together through its completion. As noted by Foundaumiere, Detroit: Become Human has the most choices and branching stories ever featured in a Quantic Dream game…
“ Through your decisions and actions, you will have the opportunity to become the writer, the director and the main protagonist of the most branching story we have ever created. A story made of hopes, fears, sadness but also of joy and happiness. A story as much about us, humans, as it is about androids.”
A new trailer was rolled out to accompany the news about the free demo and the game going gold, which you can check out below.
The demo features the game’s most used promotional bit so far: the hostage crisis.
You’ll take on the role of an android cop named Connor, who must diffuse the situation and attempt to subdue the rogue android and save the little girl.
The demo can play out a number of different ways, but you can gain some additional aid through a CyberLife Skill, which features Alexa.
The skill is available through any Amazon Alexa-enabled device by saying “Alexa, enable CyberLife” through the Alexa app after downloading the PS4 demo. There’s a video showing you how the Alexa Skill works.
You can play the demo, for free, as a means of getting a feel for Quantic Dream’s upcoming Detroit: Become Human. The game is scheduled for release on May 25th next month, exclusively for the PS4.
