Fox n Forests Coming To Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One May 17th

Publisher EuroVideo and developer Bonus Level Entertainment announced that Fox n Forests will be coming to more than just PC this spring. In fact, it will launch across Steam, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One starting May 17th next month.

The news was accompanied by a brand new gameplay trailer, showcasing more of the SNES-inspired 16-bit platformer, where gamers get to see one of the forest levels in action with the time warping mechanic on full display.

The gameplay video clocks in at a lengthy five and a half minutes, sporting platforming, magic use, and utilizing the different time zones to traverse through the level. You can check it out below.

The video covers the entire Fungus Forest, and see from the start that the Fox has the ability to utilize a variety of abilities, including melee attacks, jumping attacks, projectile attacks, and magic attacks.

Different attacks are useful for different kinds of enemies, while certain kinds of magic – specifically the ability to alter time – can be utilized to change the constitution of the stage and reach new areas.

The changing level mechanic is implemented really well here because not only does the entire tileset change but the music also changes.

Additionally, the 16-bit system synthesizer instruments work really well here. The game looks and sounds like a lost gem from the early 1990s. I imagine this is the sort of game that gamers can sit down and play and have fun with for the entire family.

Players will be able to utilize the different potions to dispense of certain creatures, as well as collect gold in order to buy upgrades and new magic.

Gameplay wise, it reminds me a little bit of Rocket Knight or World of Illusion. It’s definitely a lot more slower paced than the Sonic or Super Mario games. However, if you’re a fan of furies or you’re just a stickler for 16-bit style, retro platformers, you’ll want to keep an eye on Fox n Forests when it launches on May 17th next month for PC, PS4, Xbox One and the Nintendo Switch.
