20XX, Mega Man-Style Platformer Launches July 10th On Switch, PS4

Batterystaple Games and Fire Hose Games announced that their rogue-like 2D side-scrolling platformer, 20XX, will officially launch on the Nintendo Switch and PS4 starting July 10th, while the Xbox One launch will take place on July 11th.

The game originally made its way into Early Access on Steam many years ago, and for a while one might have assumed that the hard-as-nails side-scrolling shooter would be left by the wayside and the developers would move on to something else, but that hasn’t been the case at all.

The game actually graduated from Early Access last year, launching in full on Steam. Fast forward a year later and the game is now set to launch on Nintendo Switch, PS4 and Xbox One this summer.

20XX lets you play as two different characters, designed to mimic Mega Man and Zero from the Mega Man X series. Each one has their own special abilities, with one focusing on projectile based weapons and upgrades and the other based on melee-style weapons and upgrades.

Features like wall-jumps and attack-dashes are present, along with various power-ups and boss fights, all spanning a large collection of randomly generated levels that change every time you boot up the game.

The console version of the game will also come packed in with the Hawk DLC pack, which features an all new playable character named Hawk. He wields a laser whip along with the ability to house some powerful upgrades. So technically this brings the playable character count up to three.

You’ll also be able to play the game with both local and online multiplayer, which is a great little addition that will likely add plenty of replayability to the game.

You can pick up a digital copy of 20XX right now on Steam for $14.99. The game will be available on the PS4 and Nintendo Switch starting July 10th and on Xbox One starting July 11th.
