City Of Brass, First-Person Melee-Platformer Launches For Xbox One, PS4

Inspired by the classic Arabian Nights tale, City of Brass from Uppercut Games has finally launched for Xbox One and PS4. The game originally was released in Early Access on PC back in September of 2017.

The game is about a treasure hunter who comes upon a magical lamp that contains a genie. He wishes for unimaginable riches, but instead of granting the wish directly the genie unearths the City of Brass, a city filled to the brim with riches beyond imagination.

In order to get the treasures players will have to journey through the city to reach the center before it descends back into the sand. The only problem is that the city is filled to the brim with dangers. There are skeletons and djinns and other enemies that you’ll have to battle throughout the city. But that’s not all… the city itself is alive.

The city constantly shifts and changes, with procedural maps making up the brunt of the levels in City of Brass. You’ll have to use a whip and a sword to mix and match your attacks and traverse through the levels in order to reach the center.

The whip allows you to utilize some mid-to-long range attacks while the scimitar gives you close-quarters combat options to hack and slash your way through a variety of Persian-themed mythological creatures.

Between the combat and the treasure collecting, you’ll also have parkour mechanics at your disposal in order to jump, leap, run, and scale the alleyways and rooftops.

The game was designed by some of the veterans from BioShock, and took their expertise into the creation of City of Brass.

I don’t know if the rogue-like take on mid-east tale will go over well with console gamers, but it’s definitely something different. You can pick up a copy of the game from the PlayStation Store or the Xbox Store right now.
