Ghost Platoon, UE4 FPS Receives Free Demo During Early Access

[Update:] Some YouTubers are pointing out that Ghost Platoon is designed based on a basic UE4 asset template.

[Original article: ] Polygon Art and Toplitz Productions recently added a free demo to their Unreal Engine 4-powered first-person shooter, Ghost Platoon. The game is a multiplayer PvP title, designed to attract the kind of gamer who enjoys titles like Alliance of Valiant Arms or Counter-Strike.

The free demo will allow you to hop into the game and test out some of the weapons and the maps. You can grab the demo right now from over on the Steam store page.

The game originally entered into Early Access back in February of this year. They announced that they didn’t want the game to spend a lot of time in Early Access and scheduled for it to release in full at the end of March. However, March has come and gone and they’re still in Early access.

Nevertheless, I imagine the demo is designed to placate those who expected the full version to release this spring.

If you have no idea what Ghost Platoon is like, there’s a gameplay video that you can check out below courtesy of Throneful.

The full version of the game will include an additional five maps to play on, as well as three new weapons that will be available.

Additionally, there are three additional game modes scheduled to appear in the game, including an AIM mode for sniper rifles only, a Melee mode where you only use your fists, and the Golden Gun mode, which is a throwback to the Golden Gun mode in the classic Goldeneye 64.

I can’t imagine Ghost Platoon really standing out much when games like Call of Duty and Counter-Strike are still being played, but I suppose if you wanted a cheap FPS with simplistic PvP then it’s not bad.

However, if you’re looking to elevate your PvP game, there are titles like Blister on the horizon that features dynamic physics-based destruction and realistic weapon handling.

Anyway, you can grab the free demo for Ghost Platoon right now from over on the Steam store and decide for yourself if it’s something you might be interested in.
