Insurgency: Sandstorm Will Be Shown At E3 2018, Will Have Dismemberment System

Focus Home Interactive and New World Interactive will be at E3 2018 showing off Insurgency: Sandstorm. This information comes in courtesy of NWI Livestream host Alex Blonsky. Insurgency: Sandstorm is set to release on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

The official NWI Livestream that went live back on May 25th revealed quite a bit of stuff regarding Sandstorm thanks to Blonsky. Before detailing some interesting parts of the livestream, you can check it out right here:

Selecting highlights from the stream, the Unreal Engine 4 powered game will feature bullet drop and hitscan projectiles. This means that certain weapons will be affected by physics, while other guns will have bullets that meet their destination at the pull of a trigger.

According to Blonsky, there won’t be a Battlefield V “toolbox” or building system in Sandstorm. In other words, you cannot create cover or quickly build sandbags to stop enemy fire or flanks. In addition to building and destruction, there will be no destruction like in Battlefield games since it would create balancing issues as stated by Blonsky. However, some things like doors can be destroyed.

Furthermore, vehicles and deployments like helicopters and drones can be called in as airstrikes/support, but you cannot fly in the AI controlled call-ins.

Steam Workshop is planned to ship out at launch. Other features like modded maps, weapons and game modes are planned to ship out later, too.

Moreover, dismemberment or some form of gore will be in Sandstorm and is said by Blonsky to get pretty crazy sometimes. If you want to test the dismemberment system or you enjoy playing by yourself do know that bots will be in the game for you to mess around with.

Speaking of messing around with stuff, character customization will be in the game, but Blonsky notes that more information on this feature will be elaborated on later.

Finally, no cross-play will be in Sandstorm since it is said to cause balancing issues.
