Roll7 and 505 Games announced that Laser League is currently available for the PS4, Xbox One and on Steam for PC. You can pick up a digital copy of the game right now for just $14.99. During the launch weekend, however, 505 Games has also made it available free for a limited time up until the end of Sunday. Additionally, for the next seven days you’ll be able to pick up a copy of the game for 40% off the normal price for only $8.99.
The free weekend and 40% off are bonus deals as Roll7 celebrated the graduation from Steam’s Early Access division.
Laser League is an action-sports, sci-fi multiplayer game set in the year of 2150. To teams are pitted against each other where they must use their speed, wits, and skill to make use of the arena floor traps, as well as their own momentum to overcome opponents while dodging the deadly laser fields and making use of the power-ups along the way. You can see how the game plays out with the launch trailer below, featuring a mix of gameplay and team tactics.
Each arena has its own laser grid setup, forcing players to learn the ins and outs on how to manipulate the nodes and take charge of the field. In fact, there are 16 different maps in total, each one having its own series of laser patterns, spread across four different international stadiums. This breaks down to four maps per stadium.
You’ll also have access to six different classes, 15 different power-ups, 12 class modifiers, and 250 different visual character customization features to keep players coming back for more.
There’s been a huge surge of interest in Laser League ever since the game was originally announced. It’s been described as Tron meets Rocket League, and I can sort of see the comparisons.
I think if you’re looking for a game with multiplayer local play or online multiplayer, and you’re into something fun and hyperkinetic, then you’ll likely find yourself at home with Laser League.
